Facebook App for iPhone Not Working 2014: Problems after iOS 8.1 Update
Social networking is probably one of the most crucial reasons why people love smartphones. It helps them connected with friends and family while updating about every single important event of life. So, what happens when networking goes down after a recent operating system update? It will create frustration and that's what most of people are experiencing after the recent iOS 8.1 update.
Both Facebook base application and Messenger app seem to hang and not respond to anything. In some of the other cases, it is impossible to login as the apps cannot detect the internet connection of iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, and 4S.
Dealing with the issues is actually simpler than you think. If the problems arise after the iOS 8 update and you think that connectivity might have suffered, go to the settings option and reset all network settings under the reset menu. This should enable your WiFi and make it detect internet and run just fine.
On the other hand, if problems are with cellular data simply put the phone to airplane mode for a while and wait for five minutes. Then turn off the mode and Facebook app should be working just fine. You can also switch off the phone for a while and make it work.
If the problems are more specifically with Facebook App on your iPhone and everything else seems to work fine. Navigate to 'settings' option and then to 'cellular option'. Scroll down until you find 'USE CELLULAR DATA FOR' and then scroll down to Facebook option, turn the little button back to green and Facebook should start functioning back.
More importantly, it is important to check if you have got the latest version of Facebook and Messenger app. The older version will not work on new iOS 8.1 and you should probably update or down a completely new version through the App Store. There is absolutely nothing to freak about it.
In terms of privacy and security, you can go to 'settings' and then 'privacy' to restrict permission access to photos, location services, Bluetooth, microphone and more by turning individual services off for Facebook app.
