Marvin Sapp Celebrates GRAMMY® And NAACP Image Award Nominations

Awards season is right around the corner, and nominations for some of the biggest shows on television have recently been announced. Marvin Sapp's name was called as the nominees were announced for the 60th annual Grammy Awards, as well as the 49th NAACP Image Awards. The "preacher who happens to sing" is also on the first-round ballot of the Stellar Gospel Music Awards.
Sapp's GRAMMY® nomination is for Best Gospel Album, and he is nominated for Outstanding Gospel/Christian Album for the 49th NAACP Image Awards. This marks his 11th GRAMMY® nomination, and his fourth NAACP Image Award nomination. Both nods are in recognition of his 11th album, Close, which was released September 29th on Verity Records. Close delivered Sapp's fifth consecutive #1 album debut.
Sapp says: "Even after more than 25 years in the music business, award nominations are a exciting and a tremendous honor. My name does not have to be called, so I am humbled and grateful when it is. Thank you to both the Recording Academy and the NAACP Image Awards committee, and congratulations to all of my peers who are also nominated."
Marvin Sapp is featured on AT&T's holiday song "Be the Glow", along with Earnest Pugh, Fred Hammond, Monica, Romeo and Fantasia. "Be the Glow" can be downloaded at www.att.com.
On December 20th, Marvin Sapp will perform with The National Symphony Orchestra at The Kennedy Center, as it celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Grammy® and Dove award-winning Handel's Messiah. The one-night only event will also feature BeBe Winans, Chante Moore, The Clark Sisters, Take 6, Deitrick Haddon, Jennifer Holiday and more.
One of the most beloved voices in Gospel music, Marvin Sapp is an internationally acclaimed recording artist. He is a multiple GRAMMY® and Billboard Award nominee, two-time BET Award winner and multiple (22) Stellar Gospel Music Award recipient. Sapp is Senior Pastor of Lighthouse Full Life Center, which has locations in Grand Rapids and Muskegon, Michigan. He is also Metropolitan Bishop within the Global United Fellowship, where he oversees more than 100 churches in 19 states.
