Spoilers and Release Date for BBC America's "Orphan Black" Finally Released
Fans of the BBC America show "Orphan Black" were delighted to learn that the show has been greenlighted for a third season. BBC America released the news of the show's renewal on Wednesday, when general manager Perry Simon made a statement at the Television Critics Association press tour at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The ten new episodes, once again starring multi-talented Tatiana Maslany, will air next spring on April 19. The sci-fi drama stars Maslany, who portrays multiple clone selves who are wrapped in a conspiracy much bigger than they can even comprehend. The question on everyone's mind involves main character Sarah's search for her young daughter, Kira, after the second season finale. "Orphan Black"'s co-creator John Fawcett commented on queries as to the events of season three by saying, "A lot of things that we put in motion at the end of season two are obviously big story components going forward and new pieces to the puzzle. We believe in giving the audience answers, but we have our mysteries and we want to earn the answers. This is kind of a new aspect to the larger puzzle that is "Orphan Black."
As far as other developments on the show, the biggest spoiler for season three involves the introduction of the male clones. The show's creators, Fawcett and Graeme Manson, released a few details about this particular plot development. The co-creators told TVLine, "We really liked the idea of a make clone opening up an entirely new facet of this conspiracy. We knew that there were two different aspects to the conspiracy. One was the Project Leda faction, and the other was the Project Castor faction." However, the creators remained mysteriously silent about what effect these male clones would have on Sarah and the rest of the gang.
